What is Acupuncture?

Several thousand years ago, East Asian practitioners discovered that the body forms disharmonies as a result of the various physical and mental stresses of life. Oriental medical theory explains these disharmonies as an imbalance of opposing forces called yin and yang. This imbalance disrupts the movement of the body's vital energy (qi) along the meridian pathways, which are channels through which the body's energy is thought to flow. Acupuncture restores the smooth flow of qi. By inserting and manipulating hair-thin needles at specific points, I am able to return the body to its natural balance and promote the body's ability to heal itself.

Acupuncture returns the body to its
natural state of balance and harmony.

Is Acupuncture Safe?

Yes. Acupuncture is used by millions of Americans every year. Acupuncturists are required to undergo extensive education, including detailed study of human anatomy and training in Clean Needle Technique. I have passed comprehensive national board examinations administered by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and am licensed by the state. As required by law, I use pre-sterilized, disposable, single-use needles to ensure your complete safety.

Auricular Acupuncture

Auricular Acupuncture is a form of micro-acupuncture and focuses only on the ear. Much like foot reflexology the entire body is represented in the ear. By inserting needles at specific points on the ear, an acupuncturist can treat problems throughout the body. These ear points can be combined with body acupuncture to increase effects.

Electro-Acupuncture

Electro-Acupuncture involves using battery operated devices to send a small electric current between pairs of acupuncture needles. This produces a tingling sensation that is not painful. The current helps to reinforce the effects of the needles.

Korean Hand Therapy (KHT)

Korean Hand Therapy is a micro-system that focuses on the hands. KHT is similar in concept to the reflexology of the foot; the entire body is mapped out on the hand. KHT also includes the entire acupuncture meridian system, in miniature, on the hands. KHT is done by simulating the specific points on the hand with point massage or by taping on metal acu-pressure pellets that do not penetrate the skin.

Scalp Acupuncture

Scalp Acupuncture is a form of micro-acupuncture and is similar to regular acupuncture but focuses on the scalp only. It is used for a variety of conditions but is especially useful in the treatments of stroke, Parkinson's disease, and other neurological disorders.

What Can Acupuncture Treat?

Acupuncture works by activating the body's own healing powers, so it can be beneficial for many health conditions. The World Health Organization (WHO) has documented many symptoms, diseases, and conditions that have been shown in controlled clinical trials to be effectively treated with acupuncture.
